We will be spending most of our time working with the On To College curriculum this week as we continue to prepare to take the SAT test. Remember that during this time you are not allowed to be on your cell phone or Chromebook. You will be working on a quiz this week over sections 4-3 and 4-4 and a due date will be assigned. Wednesday is an Early Release. Have a great week!
This week we will be launching our study of logarithmic functions. We will be doing several activities to practice the notation and properties of log functions including a math take on the famous card game, war and a twist on another infamous game, BINGO. We will be focusing on the "loop method," converting between logarithmic and exponential form and properties of logs including product, quotient, and power. I hope everyone has a great week!
We will begin this week by finishing and grading your Chapter 3 mini test. Our focus will then shift to Chapter 4 (finally!) where we will be discussing and investigating exponential and logarithmic functions. Our study will begin with differentiating between exponential growth and decay functions and inverse functions. We will then wrap up the week with an assessment over these topics and an introduction into logarithms. Have a great week, everyone! Reminder that Wednesday is an Early Release this week.
Hopefully we can have 5 days of school this week. We will still be working through the tasks that were posted in the "Week of 2/4/19" post below. Have a great week everyone!
Due to our short week and the snow days last week, we will be wrapping up the materials that were posted for last week. See below for more details. :)
Hey everyone! This week we will continue pushing through Chapter 3 and focusing on rational, irrational, real and complex roots of polynomial equations. You will have a quiz over sections 3-5 and 3-6 on Tuesday. The rest of the week we will spend finishing up the rest of Chapter 3 by studying the end behaviors of polynomial graphs and bringing back our understanding of transforming functions and applying this to polynomials. I hope everyone has a great week!
Due to our Ice Days last week we will be wrapping up exams on Monday. Tuesday we will resume Chapter 3 where we left off with finding real roots of polynomial equations and introducing the Fundamental Theorem of Algebra. We will end the week with practice problems over these two sections and beginning a quiz. I hope everyone has a great start to second semester. Wednesday is an Early Release this week.
This week we will be wrapping up first semester. We will spend the first couple of days working on your exam review. Remember, you will not be allowed to use notes or class materials on your exam. You will be able to use a half sheet of paper (front and back) with any notes on it that you believe will be useful for your exam. Exam schedule is as follows: Thursday: 1, 3, 5 and Friday: 2, 6, 7. Both days are 1:00 release days.
Welcome to 2019! This week we will begin our "2 Minutes To Win It" exam preparation challenge. Your group will be awarded points based on your responses to the exam review questions we will start class with each day up until exams. We will also be picking up where we left off in Chapter 3. Namely, we will be spending most of this week learning how to factor polynomials. We will use some strategies we already are familiar with, and adding to our factoring toolbox. There is an Early Release this Wednesday. Welcome back!
